Have you ever experienced that feeling where you are just done mentally?
It feels like you just have no more mental bandwidth...
And you’re so tired, you’re tired of being tired...
Chances are you were experiencing burnout...
Is there a cure?
How do successful entrepreneurs like Elon Musk work around the clock and get so much done without burning out?
Well today I’m going to give you three very practical ways to quickly recover from burnout - or to avoid it altogether.\
#1 Focus On What You’re Good At
When you do what you’re good at, it’s usually a lot easier to stay energized.
When I got started, I was doing everything on my own...
I had to do the delivering, the selling, the customer service, the marketing, the meeting with people, the everything…
And oftentimes, the things I was the worst at, took up the most of my time.
They drained me of my energy and stamina...
And that’s why I got burned out a lot when I was starting out.
So if you can, get rid of the things you aren’t good at.
Here’s what I recommend.
Once you grow enough to have space for people to join your team, delegate those tasks that you’re not very good at (or hate).
It’s not that hard to find someone.
If you’re bad at something, it’s actually quite easy to find an affordable replacement.
Because even someone average at something will likely do a way better job than you if you suck at it.
#2 Find A Healthy Escape
Sometimes when you’re experiencing burnout, the best thing to do is go distract your mind for a bit.
Maybe you like swimming, or golfing.
Or maybe, if you’re like me, you recharge your battery by watching a good movie.
Everyone’s a little different.
But whatever you do. Find a healthy way to disconnect from your work for a while. It’ll really help prevent burnout.
And often after having that break, you’ll find you achieve so much more than if you had forced yourself to work all day non-stop.
#3 Take Some Time To Recover
This one is so important.
A lot of people think.
“Oh I’ll just work later into the night.”
But is that really the best option?
There’s a reason we need to sleep.
You see, when we cut into our body’s recovery time, it will affect us.
You may not notice it at first…
But if you keep taking from your body’s time to rest and recharge, you will experience less cognitive ability and stamina the day after.
So you may think in the moment that it’s a good idea to sacrifice some sleep to get more done. But it just slows you down more the next day.
So take time to recover and look after your health.
Now, everyone’s circumstances are different…
And maybe that’s the only option you have right now.
Maybe you have a 9 - 5 and you have to work on your business at night.
Then that’s what you have to do.
All I’m saying is in my experience, having a good night’s rest is usually all it takes for me to bounce back from burnout.
So don’t overlook sleep for an extra hour of “productivity” - it’s almost never worth it.
