JOHANNESBURG - The rand ended the week as the best emerging-market currency against the dollar.
The local currency has been strengthening on the back of better than expected local GDP figures, an improved trade surplus and a weaker dollar.
The rand is up more than 4 percent against the dollar since the start of the year. A petrol price cut could be on the cards if the currency continues to make gains. The rand was trading at R14.12 to the dollar at the close of business.
