I was having one of my daily chats with my CEO Victoria one morning as we reflected on the journey of Millenia and our personal journeys over the last almost four years that we have known each other. In this conversation, an interesting subject of time came up. This was an intriguing topic because time seems to be one of the key elements of control for the behaviour of humankind. And what do I mean by this?
Let me break this down to you.
Hi. I am Shaka, and I am a Life Coach.
The first thing we note of time is that it determines not only what we do but when we do things. On the surface, it controls when we wake up, IF we wake up… it defines what we eat and when…what we wear and when…what we listen to and when… what we watch and when…the list clearly goes on. In short, time primarily forms the basis of most of our day to day decisions speaking to how we use our physical senses. Granted, that is fine. That is the way the world works. But what else is there?
Over and above primary behaviour and ordinary life choices, time influences an aspect of us that we do not often realise, our emotions. And as a consequence, this also affects our psychological state of being. How is that the case?
Before we get to that, here is what is so fascinating about time. It has been indicated that time is not an idea that originates with the Universe as we found it, but it is purely a human construct. This means that the paradigm that is time is a conception of the human mind in its effort to mould structure into the function of the world. I cannot go into detail on this because there are copious amounts of information on the origins of time.
But with the theory that time is merely a creation by humans, it raises the question of how we as spirit beings define our own progress or the progression of our lives outside of such a construct. This then leads to my initial point on time being an influence on our emotions. Simply put, some frustrations that we encounter in our lives are due to the time factor. We sometimes use time to monitor our progress and determine our success. We toss and turn and ache and pain because of where we are vis-à-vis time. We compete with time for where we should be. And this becomes a never-ending, frustration-filled race against time, in which there can only be one winner.
This is particularly true for those that are in the journey to finding their purpose. In such a journey, time becomes a less significant mark of the process as opposed to experience. This is because it is only through experience that the lessons that are necessary are acquired. Time, in this case, is inconsequential. Thus experience becomes the best teacher. Experience also becomes the best healer.
So what then is the value of time?
We have all heard many times that ‘timing is everything.’ Here is why. Time only offers a dimension that allows for certain conditions and circumstances to change. It also specifically allows for the experience to take place.
In my chat with Victoria, she spoke of the theory of cause and effect. I also cannot get into detail on that for the same reason as above. But I will say this. She highlighted that for every result or outcome there must have been input, thus for every effect there must be a cause. But the effect is not always or even typically immediate. In addition, it is not only the cause that determines the effect but the effect is also governed by the ideal conditions, which may require time in order to be. As a farmer, for every harvest, there must be a seed planted. But the yield from the land is not primarily produced by time. The yield is a result of the nurturing that takes place whilst the seeds are planted- the watering, weeding, pruning, etc. The conditions or circumstances will be the soil, sun or temperatures, weather conditions, etc. All these play themselves out through time. Without the nurturing or the conditions, there will be no produce. Therefore time just exists, but the experience remains the centre of the process. Without the experience, time has no effect- it simply just moves and never stops.
So what does this tell us?
This tells us one thing- that where we are, is not a subject of time but a subject of our actions. It is our experiences that bring us to where we need to be. And these experiences are coupled with the allowing circumstances or the right conditions, all of which unfold over time. So it is not only unnecessary but also ineffective to evaluate our life’s journey with the basis of time. It is equally as pointless to use time to monitor or control where we should be. It is only by focusing on doing the right actions in the time you are allowed and accumulating the relevant experiences that you can move to where you need to be. Outside of experience, time simply just moves past, without any progress. Without action and experience, there are no fruits.
Final Note
We can argue for eternity whether time is a trick or a truth. But at the end of the day, it is clear that he who sits under the sun waiting for time to bear him fruit ends up fruitless and starved. But he who under the same sun, plants seeds and does what is required to nurture and care for his seeds, harvests multiples and produces abundantly.
The first step is to simply make your move.
